Fresh On Fridays

This is one of our most popular events for a variety of reasons. Every Friday morning from June through September guests are able to purchase beautiful, freshly-cut bouquets from the Gardens, arranged by our creative volunteers. These stunning offerings make perfect gifts, as enhancements to week-end entertaining needs, or as a treat for oneself! Check the calendar here for times.

Guests are also invited to visit with old and new friends on the patio of the Nature Education Pavilion while enjoying complimentary coffee, tea, and treats. Before or after doing that, they can learn more about gardening through programs presented by area experts in bee-keeping, composting, planting, gardening, and a host of other topics. These programs are offered at the Mother Earth Work Shop (MEWS) on our grounds. Again, our calendar will have more specifics.

And, children are invited to specially-themed gardening programs and events in the Kids BEE Happy Gardens. There they will explore many aspects of nature through projects, guest speakers, green-thumb activities, art and other experiences.

Central Gardens invites the public to a fun celebration at the garden! Taste test a variety of locally made breads, jams, jellies and pickles while learning how to save seeds and preserve flowers, veggies and more! Enjoy a “bee walk” through the garden led by a local beekeeper. Make an up-cycled garden project with help from the Iowa Waste Exchange. Learn about the benefits of Kombucha from a local dietician. Iowa State Extension will answer your questions on canning and freezing the garden’s bounty. Kids can taste, explore and harvest from the Kids’ Bee Happy garden.  This event is free and all ages are invited. For more details, visit Central Gardens of North Iowa’s Facebook page.
