Central Gardens of North Iowa and the Clear Lake Arts Center are pleased to present ‘summer theater under-the-stars’. Each year in July, an outdoor theatre production is presented to the public.
Central Gardens of North Iowa is situated on 2.75 acres at 800 Second Avenue North. Its ceremonial garden provides a stunning setting for an outdoor performance. Picnicking before the performance is encouraged. Reminiscent of outdoor theater at the turn of the 20th century, guests are encouraged to bring their own blankets and folding lawn chairs. When asked if there would be seating, in case someone forgot to bring their chairs, Paula Hanus, Director of the Clear Lake Arts Center replied, “Oh yes, we will have chairs. We just thought it would be fun if they brought their own blankets and chairs. It’s an attempt to immerse the audience into the performance. One of those wonderful ‘Audience Participation’ strategies that the performing arts program at the Clear Lake Arts Center has become known for.”
